Children will love this fun and unique party favor!  Allow children of all ages to craft the simple Celebration Placemats from colored cardstock, scissors, and markers.  Make yours unique with additional stickers or other decorations.  Once complete, children will have a fun place to eat their birthday cake and a unique memory to bring home with them!

What you'll need:

  • Colored cardstock
  • Scissors
  • Markers or crayons
  • Glue
  • Stickers or other decorations to match your theme (optional)
How to make your Celebration Placemats Craft
  1. Fold one sheet of cardstock in half.  Using scissors, starting from the fold and cutting to within one inch of the edge of the cardstock, make cuts one inch apart.  (see photos)
  2. Open up the piece of cardstock.  Select a second piece of cardstock and cut it horizontally into one inch strips.  (see photos)
  3. Weave the strips through the cuts in the piece of cardstock.  Once each strip is woven through, trim the ends so that they do no overlap.  Glue the pieces down if necessary.  (see photos)
  4. Using markers, crayons, stickers, or any other decorations desired, decorate your placemat.  Make sure to write your name on it so that you know which one is yours when it is time to clean up.  (see photos)
  5. Send each child home with their placemat.  For extra fun, provide them with a few leftover stickers or other decorations and some markers so that they can add to their placemat at home!
