Read Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale by Mo Willems and then create your own Knuffle Bunny Washcloth Pal from a washcloth, thread, and a cotton balls. This simple craft is great for any elementary-aged child wanting to sew a friend. Using minimal amount of stitching and requiring only a short time period, it is the perfect craft for children with short attention spans. Adapt this craft for preschoolers by avoiding the sewing needle and thread and simply gluing a pom-pom on the front for the nose!

What you'll need:

  • 1 washcloth (any color)
  • 1 rubber band
  • Needle
  • Thick, pink thread
  • 1 cotton ball
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • 2 wiggly eyes
  • 10 inches of ribbon (any color)
How to make your Knuffle Bunny Washcloth Pal:
  • Lay the washcloth on a flat surface. Fold the washcloth in half so that the opposite corners are touching. This should form a triangle. (see photos)
  • Beginning with the point of the triangle, tightly roll the washcloth up. Fold the roll in half and then in half again. Slip a rubber band around the center of the washcloth. (see photos)
  • Pull the two ends of the wash cloth up and fluff to form the ears of the bunny. (see photos).
  • Thread your needle with thick, pink thread and stitch a large "X" shape at the front of the bunny as the mouth. Clue the wiggly eyes to the front of the bunny, above the "X" shaped thread. (see photos)
  • Glue the cotton ball to the top of the other end of the bunny for the bunny's tail. (see photos)
  • Your bunny is ready to make memories with you, be filled with an ice cube, or given as a party favor at a party!
