The Very Hungry Caterpillar Craft

What you'll need:

• 2 pieces of white cardstock
• Small piece of green, yellow, and red cardstock
• 1 pipe cleaner
• 1 binder clip
• Glue
• Scissors
• The Very Hungry Caterpillar Clip template
• Markers or crayons
• Small Ziploc bag
• Large hole punch
• Small hole punch

• Using the large hole punch, punch two circles out of the red cardstock. Glue one circle to the front of the binder clip and one circle to the back of the binder clip. Use the large hole punch to punch out several green circles. Glue the circles together to form the body of the caterpillar. Glue the chain of green circles to the bottom part of the metal binder clip. Allow the glue to dry. (see photos)
• Cut two small ovals from the yellow cardstock for the outer part of the caterpillar's eyes. Punch two small circles out of the green cardstock with the small hole punch. Glue the green circles to the yellow ovals. (see photos)
• Cut a pipe cleaner in half and glue the two pieces to the binder clips as antennae. Glue the yellow and green eyes onto the red circle cardstock on the front. Set your binder clip aside to dry. (see photos).
• Print out the Very Hungry Caterpillar template onto white cardstock and color the pictures. Cut out the pictures. (see photos)
• Once your caterpillar is dry, you are ready to munch your way through the story. Gather mom or dad to read you the story and place the foods described into the mouth of your very hungry caterpillar! When done, store the pieces in the small Ziploc bag.
