Decorate your own bonnet with markers in the Beautiful Bonnet Dress Up Craft.  Make your unique bonnet with cardstock, a ruler, scissors, ribbon, and markers.  Decorate it to match any outfit or theme.  This is a perfect Thanksgiving Day activity as children learn about the Pilgrims or to compliment any lesson about living in Colonial Times!

What you'll need:

  • Ribbon (2- 7 inch pieces)
  • Markers or crayons
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Hole Punch
  • Ruler and pencil
How to make your Beautiful Bonnet Dress Up Craft
  1. Using a ruler, carefully draw a line one inch from the top of the paper.  Fold the paper along this line so that the pencil line is hidden.  (see photos)
  2. Using the hole punch, carefully punch a hole on either side, directly underneath the folded flap of cardstock.  Thread one piece of ribbon through each of the holes and tie so that the ribbon is secure.  (see photos)
  3. From the bottom of the paper, carefully cut the paper into thirds.  Stop when you have cut up three inches.  Take the two outer thirds and pull them together to form the bonnet and tape.  Fold the middle third down and tape into place.  (see photos)
  4. Your bonnet is now complete!  Decorate it with markers if desired.  Make sure to write your name on it so that it does not get mixed up with other bonnets!  To wear it, place the bonnet on your head and tie the two ribbons together in a bow!
