No matter what season it is, these flowers are sure to bloom year round! This craft is ideal for younger children who are looking to develop fine motor skills. Children will be delighted by these recycled blooms and can even give them as a gift to a loved one or a special friend!

What you'll need:

  • 1 cardboard egg carton
  • Scissors
  • Crayons
  • 2 green pipe cleaners
  • 4 scraps of tissue paper (any color will work!)
  • Scotch tape
  • Small glass jar (optional)
How to make your Egg Carton Flowers:
  • With adult supervision, use the scissors to carefully remove the top of the egg carton and two of the outer egg cups. Using the middle egg cups, cut off four individual egg cups (the middle egg cups are more symmetrical and resemble the shape of flowers). (See photo)
  • Color each of the egg cubs, both inside and outside, with the crayons. Children should be as creative as possible. The more color, the prettier the bouquet will look! (See photo)
  • Using the scissors, poke a hole in the center of the bottom of each of the egg cups. Cut the 2 pipe cleaners in half and stick a pipe cleaner in the hole on the bottom of the egg cup. Fold over the end of the pipe cleaner inside the egg cup to hold the pipe cleaner in place. (See photo).
  • Place a small roll of scotch tape on the bottom of each egg cup, next to the bent end of the pipe cleaner.
  • Take one of the scraps of tissue paper and crumple it. Place it on the piece of Scotch tape. This is the center of your flower! Make sure that it covers the pipe cleaner. Repeat with each of the flowers. (See photo)
  • Your flowers are now complete! If you would like, you can stuff a small jar with tissue paper and place the bouquet in the jar. You can also add glitter or stickers to your flowers. Be creative and dazzle with your beautiful bouquet!
