Brighten a rainy afternoon by making the Rainbow Greeting Card and Candy Treat from colored cardstock, glue, pipe cleaners, scissors, markers, a cellophane bag, ribbon, and Skittles or M&M’s.  Once complete, attach the candy to the card and deliver to someone else to brighten their spirits!

What you'll need:

  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Markers
  • Large piece of colored cardstock
  • 6 pipe cleaners (at least six colors)
  • Ribbon (6 inches)
  • 1 small, cellophane bag
  • M&M’s or Skittles candies (6 pieces of each color)
How to make your Rainbow Greeting Card and Candy Treat
  1. Fold the large piece of colored cardstock in half to form the card.  (see photos)
  2. Bend the red pipe cleaner in a “U” shape.  Bend the yellow pipe cleaner in a smaller “U” shape.  Continue with the green, blue, and purple pipe cleaners, making each one a little smaller.  Glue to the folded cardstock to form your rainbow.  Allow the glue to dry.  (see photos)
  3. Twist the two ends of a silver pipe cleaner together to form a circle.  Bend the circle in several places to form a cloud.  Glue to one side of the rainbow.  Allow the glue to dry.  (see photos)
  4. Use markers to decorate your card or write a fun message.  Some ideas for messages include: “Hope your day is filled with colorful surprises!” or “Hope this card brightens your day!”.  (see photos)
  5. Once your card is finished, separate the candy by color.  Place the candy in the cellophane bag according to the color order you used on your card.  (see photos)
  6. Once the bag is filled with all of the colors, tie the ribbon securely around the top.  Glue or tape the bag to the front of the card, if desired.  (see photos)
  7. Your card and treat are complete!  Use the card as a fun addition to a birthday present or leave it in a neighbor’s mailbox for a fun surprise!  (see photos)
