1,2,3,6,9� does that sound like your preschooler? With the Numbers and Shapes Necklace, you won't have to worry about them forgetting how to count to ten. All they have to do is look at their colorful cardstock and pasta beaded necklace to figure out what number comes next!

What you'll need:

  • yarn
  • Brightly colored cardstock scraps
  • Tacky glue
  • Black marker
  • Scissors
  • Pasta with holes
  • Colored beads
How to make your numbers and shapes necklace:
  • Measure a piece of yarn ten inches longer than the desired necklace length. (see photos).
  • Cut out ten different shapes from ten different pieces of colored cardstock. Shapes can include circles, triangles, squares, rectangles, and diamonds. (see photos)
  • Write the numbers one through ten on each of the shapes. (see photos)
  • Using glue, attach a piece of pasta so that the hole faces horizontally on the back of each shape. Allow the glue to dry. (see photos)
  • Take one of the colored beads and tie it securely to the end of the yarn. Thread two more colored beads on. Thread the number one shaped pasta bead onto the yarn. Thread two more colored beads on the yarn. Thread the number two shaped pasta bead on the yarn. Continue alternating between two colored beads and the pasta beads until you have reached number ten. Thread two more colored beads on the yarn.
  • Then, thread the end of the yarn through the very first colored bead and tie securely. Cut off any excess thread. (see photos)
  • You will now remember the numbers one through ten and look beautiful in the process!
