Children use watercolors to create this pretty kite craft. They can use their imagination and paint whatever they would like. After adding ribbon and yarn, you can hang the kites from a ceiling or place on a bulletin board to brighten up the classroom.

What you'll need:

  • Watercolor paper
  • Paint brush
  • Watercolor paints
  • A selection of brightly colored construction paper
  • A selection of ribbon
  • Yarn
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Hole punch
  • Marker
How to make your watercolor kite craft:
  • Draw a large diamond on a piece of construction paper and cut it out.
  • Draw a diamond that is slightly smaller than the first one on the watercolor paper. Cut it out and use the watercolors to paint anything you desire onto this smaller diamond.
  • When the paint is dry, glue the smaller diamond onto the larger diamond as shown.
  • Cut two pieces of ribbon and glue onto the kite, creating a coss. Trim any pieces of ribbon that extend over the larger diamond.
  • Punch a hole on the bottom of the kite and thread a long piece of yarn through it.
  • Cut a few small pieces of the ribbon and tie onto the yarn as shown.
