National Big Wind Day Fan Craft

Celebrate National Big Wind Day on April 12th by seeing who can make the biggest wind with the National Big Wind Day Paper Fan craft!  Make your own fan from colored cardstock, markers, glue, a stapler, a rubber band, and two Popsicle sticks.  A perfect craft for elementary-aged children!

What you'll need:

  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Stapler
  • Markers
  • Colored cardstock
  • 2 Popsicle sticks
  • 1 rubber band
How to make your National Big Wind Day Fan Craft
  1. Decorate a piece of cardstock with markers.  (see photos)
  2. Turn the decorated piece of colored cardstock horizontally and fold it accordion style.  (see photos)
  3. Fold the folded piece of cardstock in half and staple once along the center of the crease.  (see photos)
  4. Glue one Popsicle stick to either side of the accordion.  Allow the glue to dry.  (see photos)
  5. To work your fan, open it up so that the two Popsicle sticks are touching.  Wrap a rubber band around them to hold the fan in place.  When not in use, remove the rubber band, fold the fan in half along the crease so that the Popsicle sticks are touching, and wrap the rubber band around the end.  (see photos)
  6. Your fan is complete!  Make another to give to a friend and see who can make the biggest wind!  (see photos)
