National Carnival Day Craft

What you'll need:

• Tape
• Glue
• Scissors
• Markers
• Red and white colored cardstock
• Animal crackers

1. Using scissors, cut a large rectangle from the red cardstock.  Cut a smaller white square from the cardstock and glue to the middle of the red rectangle to form a stripe.  Allow the glue to dry.  (see photos)
2. Using scissors, cut a large triangle that is the same length as the rectangle from the white cardstock.  Cut a smaller red triangle the same length as the white square and glue to the center of the large triangle to form stripes.  Allow the glue to dry.  Tape the large rectangle below the large triangle to form your big top tent.  (see photos)
3. Cut a small triangle from the white cardstock and decorate.  Write the name of your made up carnival if desired.  Glue to the top of the triangle as the flag announcing the carnival.  Allow the glue to dry.  (see photos)
4. Using markers, decorate your tent.  You may wish to add half circles to create an awning or draw different animals and clowns.  (see photos)
5. Your big top tent is complete!  Gather some animal crackers and play with them on top of the tent.  What tricks and sounds can the different animal crackers make?
