National Popcorn Day Snowman Craft

Did you know that January 19th is National Popcorn Day?  Celebrate this fun holiday by making the National Popcorn Day Snowman Favor.  Make your own snowman favor from colored cardstock, felt, markers, scissors, tape, glue, a button, and wiggly eyes.  Afterwards, grab a bag of microwavable popcorn, wrap your frosty friend around the bag, write a message, and deliver!

What you'll need:

  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Markers
  • Tape
  • Black, white, and orange colored cardstock
  • 2 wiggly eyes
  • Small strip of felt
  • 1 button (optional)
  • 1 bag of microwavable popcorn
How to make your National Popcorn Day Snowman Craft
  1. Using scissors, cut a piece of white cardstock in half horizontally.  Wrap the piece of white cardstock around the bag of microwavable popcorn and tape into place.  (see photos)
  2. Cut a large hat from the black cardstock and glue to the top of the white piece of cardstock.  Glue the wiggly eyes to the top of the white piece of cardstock.  Cut a long, thin triangle from the orange cardstock and glue to the white cardstock, directly below the eyes, for the carrot nose.  (see photos)
  3. Cut the ends of the felt to make it look like a scarf.  Wrap the piece of felt around the bottom of the white cardstock and glue into place.  If desired, glue the button on top.  Allow the glue to dry.  (see photos)
  4. Using markers to decorate your snowman.  You may wish to draw a smile, pieces of popcorn, snowflakes, or other winter things.  (see photos)
  5. Your snowman is complete!  Write “Pop this in the microwave to warm you up!” or “Happy National Popcorn Day!” on the back and give to a loved one or neighbor.  (see photos)
