An Apple for My Teacher Scented Sachet

What you'll need:

• Pen
• Scissors
• Patterned red or maroon fabric (12 inch square)
• Small piece of green fabric
• Thick brown ribbon (6 inches)
• Thread
• Needle
• Small pieces of red, green, and brown fabric
• Potpourri
• An Apple for My Teacher Scented Sachet template
• Fabric glue or hot glue

• Print out the An Apple for My Teacher Scented Sachet template on white cardstock. Using a pen, trace the leaf pattern onto the green fabric. Trace the apple pattern onto the red fabric. Turn the apple pattern over and trace it again on the red fabric. Cut the pieces of fabric out. (see photos)
• Take the apple fabric pieces and line them up so that the patterned side of the fabric is sandwiched together. (see photos)
• Thread your needle and beginning at the top of the apple, stitch along the outer edge of the apple until there is only one inch of space remaining. Sew in the same place ten times to secure the thread. Cut off any remaining thread. Turn the apple right side out. (see photos)
• Pour the potpourri through the hole into the inside of the apple. Fold the brown ribbon in half and insert it into the hole near the center of the apple. This will be the apple's stem. Rethread your needle and stitch up the hole along the edge of the apple, making sure that to stitch the ribbon into the apple so that it is secure. When you reach the end, sew in the same place ten times to secure the thread. Trim excess thread. (see photos)
• Glue the green fabric leaf onto the top, right side of the apple, next to the brown ribbon. Allow the glue to dry. (see photos)
• Tip: For a pleasant smelling classroom, give the apple sachet to your teacher on the first day of school!
