Children will love crafting the simple-to-make Don’t Make a Peep! Surprise Birthday Invitations!  Make your own invitations from colored cardstock, glue, markers, wiggly eyes, and scissors.  Although these cards are easy to make, reminding kids that the party is a surprise may be much harder!

What you'll need:

  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Large piece of white cardstock
  • Small pieces of yellow, orange, black, and white cardstock
  • 2 wiggly eyes
  • Markers (must include a silver or white marker)
How to make your Don’t Make a Peep! Surprise Birthday Invitation
  1. Fold the large piece of white cardstock in half to form the card.
  2. Using scissors, cut a small circle shape from the yellow piece of colored cardstock for the chick’s head.  Cut a larger oval shape from the yellow cardstock for the chick’s body.  Cut a smaller oval shape from the white cardstock for the chick’s belly.  Cut two small oval shapes from the orange piece of colored cardstock for the chick’s feet.  Cut a small diamond shape from the orange cardstock for the chick’s beak.
  3. Glue the chick’s head to the bottom right of the card.  Glue the chick’s body below it.  Glue the belly to the center of the chick’s body.  Glue the feet to the bottom of the chick’s body.  Glue the beak and wiggly eyes to the chick’s head.  Allow the glue to dry.
  4. Using scissors, cut out a speech bubble from the black cardstock.  Write “Don’t Make a Peep!” in the speech bubble.  Glue the speech bubble to the side of the chick.  Allow the glue to dry.
  5. Using a marker, write “Shh!...” above the chick.  Use markers to decorate the chick or background of the card, if desired.
  6. Your card is complete!  Write the important birthday information on the inside and deliver!
