Do your kids love to help mom in the kitchen? Help her capture this memory by creating a dish towel with her child's handprints on it. Using little handprints makes this Mother's Day craft so much more meaningful to any mom or grandma because kids are only small for such a short time. All you need is a dish towel and a little fabric paint to create this wonderful homemade Mother's day gift.

What you'll need:

  • Dish Towel
  • Fabric paint (we used the squeeze bottle/paint pen variety)
  • Paint brush
  • Wet paper towel
How to make your Mother's Day Handprint Dish Towel:
  1. Lay your dish towel out on a hard flat surface. Squeeze some fabric paint onto your child's hand and use the paint brush to evenly coat their whole hand with paint. We've found that painting a child's hands for handprints works much better than dipping their hands in paint.
  2. Press their hand onto the towel and then have them lift their hand straight up.
  3. Use a wet paper towel to wipe off their hand a bit. Remember, you are using fabric paint for this craft and it is not the most washable variety of paint. We found that waiting to do a quick clean up of the extra paint off our daughter's hand made it slightly harder to wash off later.
  4. Repeat these steps for the other hand.
  5. Use the fabric paint to write "Mommy's Helping Hands" and the year on the towel and then set the craft aside to dry.
