Check out this fun beach craft. This beach door hanger makes for a great kids summer craft. This isn't for young kids, but slightly older kids will enjoy painting the various pieces and putting it together for the finished product. When complete, kids can hang it on the front door or their bedroom door and celebrate the fun of the summer season!

What you'll need:

  • Wooden rectangle - sold at any craft store
  • Unpainted wooden palm tree and crab - sold at any craft store
  • White glue that dries clear (elmers will work fine)
  • 2 disposable foam paint brushes
  • Glitter
  • Sand
  • Paint - red, white, black, green, blue, brown and tan
  • Small seashells
  • String and tape
  • Regular paint brushes
  • Hot glue gun and glue (adults only)
How to make your foam beach door hanger:
  • Attach string to back of wooden rectangle with tape
  • Paint bottom half of sign tan for beach (2 coats to cover)
  • Paint top half of sign blue for ocean (2 coats to cover)
  • When paint is dry, mix white glue with a little bit of tan paint and use disposable brush to paint over the tan paint on the sign
  • Sprinkle sand on to the glue mixture - shake off any extra - let dry
  • Mix white glue with a little bit of water to thin it out - paint that over the blue part of the sign
  • Sprinkle glitter over the blue part and shake off any extra - let dry
  • Paint the crab red with white eyes and black dot for pupil
  • Paint the palm tree green and brown (add coconut for fun)
  • After crab and palm tree are dry, glue them to the sign
  • Add the seashells to the sign by attaching with hot glue
  • Hang on door and enjoy
