Kids will smile as they make the Flower Power Dress Up Mask.  This fun and colorful project is made from paper plates, colored cardstock, elastic string, and crayons.  Completely customizable, these fun flowers can be made in a variety of shapes, colors, and sizes.  Make a bunch and soon you will have a whole garden of flowers!

What you'll need:

  • Paper plates
  • Colored cardstock
  • Crayons
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Elastic string
  • Hole punch
How to make your Flower Dress Up Mask
  1. Using scissors, carefully cut out the center of the paper plate so that only a one inch rim remains.  (see photos)
  2. Using scissors, cut out petals from the colored cardstock.  You can make your flower unique by cutting out petals from different colors of cardstock and making the petals different sizes or shapes.  (see photos)
  3. Color the paper plate with crayons so that no white remains.  (see photos)
  4. Using a hole punch, punch a hole on either side of the paper plate.  Thread an elastic string through both sides and tie a knot.  Make sure that the string is big enough to fit a child’s head through.  (see photos)
  5. Glue the petals to the rim of the paper plate to form your flower.  Allow the glue to dry.  (see photos)
  6. Your flower is now ready to wear.  Put on some green clothing and wear your mask.  Gather some friends and have them make masks as well.  Wear them all together and become a beautiful garden.  Watch out though- someone might try to water you!
