Sand Jack O Lantern Craft

After doing crafts with children for a while you learn that very few things attract a kid's attention like a bowl full of colored sand. This is a wonderful craft to make with children of all ages. Our daughter loved playing in the sand which makes this a great sensory activity. She also enjoyed carefully spooning the sand into the container which made this a fun fine-motor skill game as well. We added a funnel to the craft for even more fun. This craft does have a bit of a mess associated with it, but we think it's worth it in the end!

What You'll Need
STEP 1
Paint the lid to the baby food jar green. We found it easiest to dab the paint on - it's not the easiest surface to paint.
STEP 2
Draw the face of your jack-o-lantern onto the jar using the marker.
STEP 3
Fill the jar with sand. You can use all orange or...
STEP 4
All the fall colors to add a little pattern to it. A spoon and a funnel make this fun.
STEP 5
Screw the lid back onto the jar. Cut a leaf out of green paper or foam and glue it to the top of the jar.
