Caterpillar Valentine Craft

Our preschool class learns a new shape each month and February is heart month. In this activity, children trace hearts on pink and red paper. Then they cut them out and glue them onto a paper while making a pattern. After adding a face, antennae and some legs,you have a festive Valentine decoration!

What you'll need:

  • Template of hearts
  • Pink paper
  • White paper
  • Red paper
  • Scissors
  • Brown marker
  • Glue
  • Google eyes
How to make your Caterpillar Valentine Craft
  1. Using template, trace and cut two small and three medium hearts from the red paper and two medium and one large heart from the pink paper.
  2. Glue the hearts on the white paper as shown. Be sure to make the large pink heart the face and then pattern all of the medium pink and red hearts as the body.
  3. With the marker, draw legs under each medium heart and a smile and antennae on face.
  4. Glue google eyes over the mouth and two small red hearts on top of antennae.
