Don't Hide, Go Outside! This is such an important message to remind toddlers who are prone to hide in scary situations. Make it a constant reminder with a fun refrigerator magnet constructed from tissue paper, cardstock, a sticky-backed magnet, and glue. Once complete, this magnet will serve as a reminder for every child in your house. This is a great craft for story hour or a fire safety unit!

What you'll need:

  • Small piece of white cardstock
  • Paintbrush
  • Paper plate
  • 1 sticky back magnet
  • Red, orange, and yellow tissue paper
  • Crayons or markers
  • Glue
  • Scissors
How to make your fire safety magnet craft:
  1. Cut out a small rectangle from the white cardstock for the background of your magnet. (see photos)
  2. Cut out small squares of red, yellow, and orange tissue paper. Crumple the squares up into small balls. (see photos)
  3. Squirt a small amount of glue onto the paper plate. Using the paintbrush, glue, and tissue paper balls, make a fire in the center of the cardstock. Allow to dry. (see photos)
  4. Using a marker or crayon, write "Don't Hide, Go Outside!" on the bottom of the magnet. You may also want to write "911" or some other important reminder. (see photos).
  5. Attach the magnet to the back of the cardstock and hang it on the fridge!
