Kids love the changing of the seasons! This craft goes from winter to spring with a fun use of yarn to shape the body of the tree. Your child will enjoy painting the blue sky and selecting the right items to make the berries or blossoms on the tree - use buttons, sequins, hole punches, or anything colorful! Let your child decide where to place these, and the leaves, to create his/her one-of-a-kind spring tree.

What you'll need:

  • Cardboard rectangle
  • Brown yarn
  • Blue paint & brush
  • Green tissue paper
  • Sequins, buttons, hole punches, or other "berries"
  • Glue, scissors, pencil
How to make your spring button tree craft:
  • Paint the cardboard blue.
  • Cut at least 18 strands of yarn.
  • Sketch a tree shape lightly with a pencil. Cover the trunk with glue and place the strands of yarn there.
  • Make a small line of glue for each strand of yarn to follow, forming the tree branches.
  • Cut leaves from the tissue paper by folding it numerous times and cutting through all layers at once.
  • Place dots of glue among the tree branches. Place a leaf or a "berry" on each one.
